Intentional Discrimination: Tastries Update

Thank you California Court of Appeals!

I decided to take a quick peek at Facebook and there it was! KGET’s post that on Tuesday the California Court of Appeals had reversed Kern County judge, Eric Bradshaw’s ruling. While I’m sure we have not heard the last of this case, seeing this post did my heart some good today! Pull up KGET’s post and read the article. Two take aways from the article for me are “A three-tiered, plain white cake with no writing, engravings, adornments, symbols or images is not pure speech…” and “Despite that the underlying rationale for the (Tastries’) policy is rooted in a sincerely held religious belief … the policy nonetheless requires a distinction in service that is based solely on, and because of, the end users’ sexual orientation. The relevant and undisputed facts about the policy and its application here necessarily establish intentional discrimination.”
