The Passing of Marsha Aizumi

In 2013, Marsha Aizumi and her son Aiden visited PFLAG Bakersfield to share their family’s story — a journey that led them from fear and uncertainty to hope and pride. As Marsha spoke, her voice often cracked while recalling how Aiden struggled in his younger years. But by the end of her talk, her voice was strong and powerful as she described how her son began to truly thrive after coming out as transgender.

Yesterday, December 18, 2025, after a long illness, Marsha Aizumi passed away.

Marsha’s advocacy and compassion helped countless individuals and families find understanding, acceptance, and courage. Her voice reached far beyond her own family, touching lives across communities and generations. PFLAG Bakersfield and our members extend our deepest condolences to the Aizumi family and to all those who were guided and inspired by Marsha’s work.
