My name is Valerie Andree and I became a PFLAG mom nearly ten years ago when my child came out as transgender At the time I was overwhelmed confused and hurting I didn’t understand what was happening and I struggled to find peace with it

Then I was invited to a PFLAG meeting That moment changed my life I met a group of people who supported me and walked with me through the process They helped me understand not just what my child was going through but what I was experiencing as a parent

Since then I have learned so much I love my son with my whole heart and I am proud of who he is I am also deeply grateful for the friends I have made through this community They have become my lifelong friends and part of my extended family

Today I am honored to serve on the board of PFLAG My hope is to support other families who are navigating their own transitions and trying to understand their children Every child matters and every parent deserves a safe place to grow through this journey

I am grateful for my son I am grateful for PFLAG And I am proud to be a PFLAG mom
